Celtics Win Game 2, Take 2-0 Lead in NBA Finals
Despite Struggles from Three, Celtics Hold Off Mavericks
Game 3 Moves to Dallas as Celtics Look to Take Commanding 3-0 Lead
Despite struggling from beyond the arc, the Boston Celtics have taken a 2-0 lead in the 2024 NBA Finals after defeating the Dallas Mavericks in Game 2. The Celtics shot only 20.6% from three-point range but were able to grind out a 94-87 victory thanks to strong performances from Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, who combined for 48 points.
The Celtics' defense was also a key factor in the win, as they held the Mavericks to just 33.3% shooting from the field, including 22.9% from three. Luka Doncic led the Mavericks with 26 points, but he was uncharacteristically inefficient, shooting just 9-of-24 from the field and 2-of-10 from three.
Game 3 of the series will move to Dallas on Wednesday night. The Mavericks will be looking to protect their home court and avoid falling into a 3-0 hole. The Celtics, on the other hand, will be looking to take a commanding lead and put the Mavericks on the brink of elimination.
