Egos, a beloved karaoke bar in Austin, Texas, is set to close its doors after 45 years in business. The bar, located at 510 S. Congress Ave, will be open until August 11, 2023.
The closure is due to the demolition of the building to make way for a new condo development. Egos has been a popular destination for locals and tourists alike, known for its lively atmosphere, strong drinks, and talented singers.
The bar's owner, Craig Huber, said that he is "heartbroken" to close Egos, but that he understands the need for progress. "Egos has been a part of my life for so long, and it's hard to say goodbye," Huber said. "But I know that the new development will be a great addition to the community."
