The FBI has named 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, as the suspect in Saturday's attempted assassination of a Republican congressional candidate at a Trump rally in Summersville, West Virginia.

According to the FBI, Crooks opened fire with a handgun during the rally, striking the candidate, Josh Benedict, in the arm. Secret Service agents returned fire, fatally shooting Crooks at the scene.
