American sprinter Gabby Thomas has finally won the Olympic gold medal that has long eluded her. The 24-year-old finished first in the women's 200-meter final at the 2023 Tokyo Olympics on Monday, August 8, with a time of 21.89 seconds.
A Quick Start and a Strong Finish
Thomas started the race quickly and motored through the turn. She then burnt the purple track over the final 100 meters to capture her first Olympic gold medal. It was a dominant performance from the American, who was never really challenged throughout the race.
